free roll passwords
Hello my name is mig21 and i love the idea of finding a new site and being one of the first people on the forums. I belong to several and the freerolls are getting out of hand. Is there anyway we can protect the passwords to the freerolls on this site and keep the tournaments to those who participate. Just an opening thought.

Re: free roll passwords
Great topic starter, Mig! I will do everything within my power to keep our private freerolls reserved for our members. Of course, co-operation from our members is greatly appreciated.
I'm going to start off by only releasing the passwords very close to gametime, and we'll see where it goes from there. Hopefully (fingers crossed) we don't get "members" who like to share passwords, or we'll have to start exploring other measures to keep our "private games" private.
On the subject of password sharing, I'll never understand how anyone can be so fucking stupid as to think that's somehow a good idea. It could make sense for buy-in games; the more participants, the higher the prizepool grows. But that still doesn't make it moral to invite people into a game who aren't invited.
But in freerolls? Come on. Let's look at this analytically:
buy-in: $0
prize pool: $x
X+0=X
So the prizepool stays the same, regardless of who or how many enter. OK. I have a better chance of beating 8 people than I do of beating 800, so bringing in more players doesn't help me there.
Now let's take a $25 freeroll for example here.
With 8 players, the prizepool = $25
With 800 players, still only = $25
With 8 players: If I beat only 5 people, I win $5.
With 800 players If I beat only 5 people, I win $0.
With 8 players: If I finish just ITM, I get $5
With 800 players: If I just finish ITM, I get about $0.06 (6 pennies)
With 8 players: If I win, I get $12.50
With 800 players: If I win, I get $6
There's nothing above that makes bringing more players into the game at any way helpful to me. I can't understand why anyone would want to. And if anyone would like to take the time to explain, don't bother. I've already heard the explanations, done the math, and password sharing still comes out to a negative EV, regardless of anyone's own twisted logic. It's bad poker, plain and simple.
Besides, I'll make it clear here. Password sharing is not only moronic, but it's also NOT allowed. Besides, the passwords are shared with all members, and I don't make it so anyone has to jump through any special hoops or pay even a dime to join. SO if anyone needs the password to one of our games, they can come here and have easy access to it, and that's all that I ask.
