Police have released the name of a man who died following an "extremely brutal and violent attack" in Glasgow.

Kenneth Andrews, 41, was found in Dalmarnock Road, near Bridgeton, at about 16:20 on Sunday. He died a short time later in Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Police said a post-mortem examination was due to take place on Monday.

Officers are studying CCTV footage from the area and have appealed for information. They are treating Mr Andrews' death as murder.

The victim was found close to his home in Bernard Terrace, Bridgeton.
'Violent attack'

Det Insp Allan Burton, of Strathclyde Police, said: "This was an extremely brutal and violent attack on this man and officers are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area to gather more information on those responsible.

"The inquiry team are currently continuing to carry out door-to-door enquiries and view CCTV footage in an effort to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this death."

He said Dalmarnock Road would have been busy with motorists and pedestrians at the time of the attack.

"I would urge any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward," added Det Insp Burton.

"In particular, I would like to speak to anyone who may have been making their way to or from the nearby Dominion Public House or the William Hill bookmakers, as they may have witnessed something vital to this inquiry."
